I absolutely love this Maxpower Planet Pet Grooming Brush - Double Sided Shedding and Dematting Undercoat Rake. I have rough collies and they have a LOT of hair. Spring time means shedding time and its usually such a chore to rake out all that loose undercoat. I spend hours with each of them on the grooming table and I am so sore afterwards. My hands ache, my arms ache and I am not my dogs best friend afterwards. So I thought I would try some new tools and bought this. Oh my gosh and I ever glad I did! Its comfortable to hold, it works so well and my collie Harper Lee was not bothered by it at all. She still loved me after we were all done. We didn't have actual mats, just a lot of thick, old coat to get out. I'm not a pro groomer, I just groom my own collies because it's so expensive for even a bath, blow dry and grooming. I highly recommend this tool to others with thick coated dogs. I think Harper Lee looks gorgeous!
I have a super difficult ragdoll cat who can be aggressive so you can imagine brushing his mats is a nightmare. I was trying to avoid a $250 vet bill for anesthesia and lion cut. With some training, I can brush him with this for about 15 seconds now and it gets SOOOO much hair. I still have to cut some big mats out but then I get a golf ball size amount of hair, twice a day, and no bodily harm caused between us! Pretty cool.
Great for our cats and dogs. It takes out insane amounts of undercoat. The pets tolerate it ok but we have to do it in small sections or they dont like it.
I was originally here looking at pet shavers for my British Shorthair Joey, as he gets mats on his hindquarters due to the weird way he sits. (see photos) He got a couple of good sized mats right next to his tail that he wouldn't let me near, and I was getting concerned that they were causing him pain. I honestly didn't believe any brush or tool for mats would work, and was resigned to shaving them off, when I discovered this little tool. First, IT WORKS! Second, as another reviewer made it clear, use short strokes over the mat, Your instinct will be to use long strokes, but ignore that instinct! Third, this tool works not just for mats, but as an everyday brush, especially if you have a cat with an undercoat that constantly sheds, and the smaller, fluffier "fur" if you will (his coat is like that of a stuffed animal) never wants to stick to the cat comb when I brush him. THIS tool gets that fuzz! My cat isn't really a fan of being groomed, so he's not thrilled with my having ANOTHER thing to bug him with, but it doesn't seem to hurt (unless trying to get a mat out) and it really gets that loose hair out. I already have two people in mind who would absolutely get some good use out of one of these! ??
This big boy has a ton of hair and at 16 years old, hes not the best self groomer. Weve tried several cat brushes including the Furminator, and regularly use pet shears to shave some of his hair down, yet nothing really cuts through the mats. I end up having to trim him with scissors, which is a dangerous job (Ive accidentally cut him). This tool makes it super easy and safe to remove mats as well as the thick undercoat where mats begin. I recently bathed and brushed this cat, and then went back over him with this brush. In 15 minutes, we had a cat-sized pile of hair. He purred the entire time. This brush was very gentle yet effective. Id highly recommend it for any owners of long haired cats.
